Living Self-Acceptance: Continued

Updated: Feb 26, 2019

In my blog "living Self-Acceptance" we had a look at the definition of the word Self-acceptance. I left off with the question, "How would you define Self-Acceptance?" This is an important question because if you find that you're not accepting yourself, a first step towards accepting yourself would be to ask, "What does it actually mean to accept myself?"

Definitions of words are things that we mostly learn unconsciously, which means that whether or not we accept ourselves depends on a definition of the word self-acceptance that we don't even remember forming.

Words are commonly defined within polarities. The word 'acceptance' would for example exist in a polarity with the word 'judgment', with 'acceptance' being the positive/good and 'judgment' being the negative/bad and both words being each other's opposite.

A definition that is sound however captures the unique expression of the word, wherein the word is neither good or bad. It recognizes that each word exists equally and has it's own purpose.

So what would be a sound definition for the words self-acceptance and self-judgment?

Read "Living Self-Acceptance: A Third Extension" to find out the next step in how to practically live self-acceptance.
